OJK Launches 2024–2028 Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of Microfinance Institutions


Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) has launched 2024–2028 Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). Collaborative efforts among stakeholders in this Roadmap are crucial to realizing a trusted MFI industry for the micro segment, actively supporting government programs, and contributing to community empowerment and consumer protection based on good corporate governance principles.

The five key strategies prioritized in the 2024–2028 Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of Microfinance Institutions period are as follows:

  1. Strengthening governance, risk management, and human resources (HR).
  2. Enhancing regulations, supervision, and licensing.
  3. Empowering, educating, and increasing consumer and community literacy.
  4. Developing ecosystem elements.
  5. Advancing data infrastructure and information systems.

The implementation of these strategies will be carried out in three main phases:

  • Phase One: Strengthening the foundation and consolidation.
  • Phase Two: Creating momentum.
  • Phase Three: Adjustment and growth.

The 2024–2028 Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of MFIs is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of MFI industry development and strengthening over the next five years.
